How You Can Help Fight Animal Cruelty

Animal cruelty is something that many people close to the heart. Many think of it as an abuse that is relative to child abuse, because the animal is also no defense against human hands or neglect.

It tends to wake up like anger and outrage as well, and there are now many agencies set up to help prevent animal cruelty, and also in the shelter where rescued animals find comfort and solace from their the abusive or neglectful environment.

Years ago, there was not even any laws set up to protect animals from abuse, and abusers will be able to get away with doing just about anything they want with no results.

Today, there are animal protection laws set up in almost every state, and if you found guilty of cruel treatment of an animal, you are subject to anything from fines to community service, jail time.

While we come a long way in legislating animal protection laws, there is still room for improvement, as they are not tough enough punishment to most people eyes, and apparently still is taken rather lightly.

While I'm not aligned with the thinking of extreme animal rights groups that preach vegetarianism and use tactics that do not believe they should get their point across, I certainly wonder what they are trying to do, which is drawing attention to the animals Kingdom and getting the word out that our furry friends need our help when they do not have a voice of their own to defend themselves.

One can read about the story of cruel treatment in any weekly newspaper, and some of the stories are enough to make one nauseous. With stories of animals left in the house with no food or water, in their own waste and crawling with fleas and ticks, stories of abandoned farm animals, neglected, missing Food and abused, and horrifying tales of pets in the house was beaten, starved, deprived of care, and even killed at the hands of real people should be kept them, all still need to be addressed.

There are some steps you can take to make sure you are not a quiet voice search to avoid The animal cruelty, you just need to be aware of your surroundings and know what to look for.

You can report any suspicions to the local police, or if you have an agency that works with abused animals, you can call them to investigate and organize well, basically the APL (Animal Protective League) and other similar rights animal shelters and nonprofit organizations that can help as well.

Some signs to look for you can be already know, like most people animal lovers have a built in instinct for knowing when an animal is abused or neglected. Many animals that physically abused is hand shy.

They do not want to come near you or to any other person, and can be especially leery of their owners or react in an aggressive way toward them or others.

While it does not necessarily indicate abuse, as some animals are just head that way, it's a good premise factor to look at when determining if an animal is physically abused.

If an animal has patches of fur missing or looks extremely thin, or even if they are spread in fleas, it may indicate neglect. Another one is to look for animals that you see outside in extremely cold days, tied to a chain for leisure any warm refuge. It is dangerous and can be abuse if the animal does not have a place of refuge to retreat to.

Also if they are left chained outside for hours without food or water - water of course is the most vital of the two. Use your judgments, there are always animals that can be acclimated to their situations, but if you always see it, and suspicious it might be worth an investigation by a wildlife protection official agency or the police department.

Of course the most obvious thing to look out for are actually witnessing an act of animal abuse. If you see someone physically assaulting an animal, please make sure you report it immediately, as it is the most blatant and obvious form of animal abuse and certainly warrants a report for investigation.

If we all do our part in preventing animal cruelty, we can make this world a better and safer place for our furry friends to entrust us with their lives and well being. If we look out for them, that is?
