Minnesota Vikings

Based out of Minneapolis, Minnesota, the Vikings compete in the North Division of the National Football Conference (NFC) National Football League (NFL). New divisional realignment in 2002, the team is a member of the Central Division, also known as the Black & Blue Division. The Vikings have won a NFL Championship (1970 Pre- AFL-NFL merger). The Vikings have won 17 division titles, the third most on the team currently playing in the NFL.

Team was officially named the target = "_blank" title = "Minnesota Vikings"> Minnesota Vikings on September 27, 1960, the name are partly meant to reflect Minnesota's place as a center of Scandinavian American culture. From the start, the Vikings embraced an active marketing program made a first-year season ticket sales of nearly 26,000 and an average home attendance of 34,586, about 85 percent of capacity of 40 800 for the Metropolitan Stadium.

The team played home games at Metropolitan Stadium through the 1981 season before the NFL finally settled to play their home games at Hubert H. Humphrey Metrodome since 1982.

In their opening game on September 17, 1961, the Vikings gave their followers a little taste of what the next 47 years will be like. Then a slow start rookie quarterback Fran Tarkenton jumped off the court and began working his magic. Tarkenton threw four touchdown passes and ran for another as he led the Vikes to a 37-13 victory over the Chicago Bears.

For the past 47 years, the Minnesota Vikings have epitomized winning. The Men in Purple always near the top of the division standings. Only four NFL teams have played in more Super Bowls, and one of the Dallas Cowboys, have more playoff hehe.

The Vikings won the NFL championship in 1969 and NFC titles in 1973, '74 and '76. From Ahmad Rashad with Cris Carter, from Jim Marshall on Randall McDaniel and from Matt Blair John Randle, the Vikings are among the most exciting teams ever to strap on pads.
